An accomplished Physicist from University of Pune and a gold medallist from Devi Ahilya University, Indore, she completed her Ph.D. as well as M.Sc. in Physics from the University of Pune and her specialization is Computational Condensed Matter. She has guided five Ph.D. and three M.Phil. students till date. She is currently Professor and Head at the Department of Physics, at University of Pune.
A member of many professional societies including Indian Physics Association, Institute of Physics (UK), Third World Organization for Women Scientists, she has co-authored many journals and books including Science textbooks for secondary and higher secondary levels of Maharashtra State Education Board.
She is also the Director of Centre for Modeling and Simulation and the Interdisciplinary School of Scientific Computing.
